Program: Superbase 4 Version: 1.3x Date: September 15, 1992 Topic: Images as Buttons Summary: This technote explains how to create a push button with an image on it. It addresses how to put an external image or an image from an external field onto a push button. Create a Push Button 1. Start with a new form in the Form Designer. Using the CMD tool, add a push button named pic$. Type the command to execute when the button is pushed. 2. Select the Push Button and Skip entry execution box. 3. Don't give the Push Button a title. 4. Customize the button color or size as necessary. 5. Place an external image on the button. 6. Using the image tool (the one that looks like a camera), position the cursor inside the top left corner of the push button, and drag it to the lower right corner. 7. From the Select Image dialog, choose the image file you want to display on the push button. Select Scale (Exact Fit) instead of Full Size. The image won't appear on the screen -- it is behind the push button. 8. Select the push button with the right mouse button. With the left mouse button, click on the pen and paper tool, until it is off (unshaded). This makes the push button "see through", and the image now appears on top of the push button. Place an image from an external field on the button 1. Using the FLD tool, place your cursor inside the push button, and click with the left mouse button. 2. Select the external image field from the field list. 3. Move and resize the field so it is within the push button. 4. Select the scale to fit tool. (It looks like two boxes, one dark, one light.) Remember that the FORM SHOW command displays the external form image rather than the name of the image file.
