Installation
You now should have Superbase, TCP/IP, Web Server software
(If you have not installed all of these components and configured
them correctly, you will be unable to install and configure
the Superbase Internet Server.)and a Web browser installed
on your PC.
To install the Superbase Internet Server run the INSTALL.EXE
program from the Superbase Internet Server disk and follow
the instructions. (Please note: If you are using Windows NT
and your web server is installed as a service, make sure that
you configure your web server to interact with desktop applications
[use the WinNT control panel to access services.] ) The installation
process will prompt you for the location of several specific
sub-directories:
1. The CGI-WIN directory
This directory alias must be set-up through your web server
configuration software and should be named "CGI-WIN".
Normally, the CGI-WIN directory contains CGI executable programs
and many web servers ship with a variety of examples located
in this directory.
Web servers typically use an alias to refer to a physical
directory on your hard drive. i.e. CGI-WIN = x:\httpd\cgi-bin\win.
Any URL that refers to an EXE file located in the CGI-WIN
directory will actually refer to your x:\httpd\cgi-bin\win
directory.
If your system specifies a Windows CGI directory that is
named differently you will need to either modify the SBISERVE.SBP
program to reflect this, or create a new directory alias called
CGI-WIN (please refer to your web server software documentation
for details).
2. The document root directory
This directory usually contains the homepage or root document
that is accessed when a user connects to your web site.
The Internet server will install a graphics sub-directory
for examples.
3. The SB30 directory
The Superbase Internet Server will install the required DLL's,
SBP's, and example programs in a sub-directory off the main
SB30 directory. (This is the directory where Superbase was
originally installed.) |
